When you know what Reiki is, you can say with complete confidence that Reiki is completely safe with no negative side effects. But when you don’t know, is it safe to have a Reiki session even if it is free? Thankfully most of us have the common sense and confidence to give it a try and find out for ourselves, as I did.
For our safety, we need to know
There are some things that I believe but don’t know, but if it’s affecting me directly I need to know. Haven’t we all been duped by sharp practices or sharp practitioners and now we proceed very warily when spending money or trying something new? In an age when many political leaders and respected public figures are being found out to be frauds; in an age of fast and plentiful information and misinformation; in an age of trusting big profit-making corporations with our energy, utilities and transport infrastructures; and in this age of the internet, I bet most of us have been shocked and burned in some way, so the need to know for ourselves is more important than ever.
Reiki – new age or a timeless need?
Reiki is often categorized as a “new age” thing. That’s OK by me because I see new age stuff as mostly positive, idealistic and an attempt to push the boundaries of human consciousness rather than just accept the status quo. There are, of course, airy-fairy, dubious practices and people in it just to make money but in general “new age” often offers viable and natural alternatives from which to choose. Safe Reiki, for example, offers harmless natural healing that you can try free of charge to see if it suits you. My personal “new age” thinking behind this is really as old as the hills – Reiki helps me feel good and I want to share that.
Safe and secure when we know for sure
Reiki makes me feel very safe. I know from my own experience (not my thought or theory) that something intelligent and loving is taking care of me. “Ah but people like you are misguided and Reiki will lead you into dangerous occult practices”, a certain set of fear-mongers will tell us. But we are no longer so ready to accept the voice of authority. We are learning to trust ourselves. We will now get to know some of these “occult” people and discover they are more often than not honest people with strong principles who really enjoy their alternative ways of expressing their love of life. We’ve seen genocide in the name of religion, we’ve seen that the powers-that-be are NOT learning any lessons and we can clearly see that we are actually happier than those overloaded with power, money and propaganda machinery. Such is the power of knowing for yourself and practising Reiki and peace, and why Reiki is safe. But don’t just accept my words. Try it and see for yourself.
